FPCAP 4th National Convention
With this year’s theme Family Counseling: Towards Resiliency, Empowerment and Transformation, the Family & Pastoral Counselling Association of the Philippines is pleased to announce its 4th Annual Convention on November 15-17, 2012 at the Conference Hall, University of the East, C.M. Recto Ave., Manila.
Keynote Speaker for this event is the Most Reverend Deogracias S. Yniguez, DD , Bishop of Kalookan and a staunch family advocate.
Plenary topics for this Convention consist of research-based output focusing on current family issues that provide such challenge in the practice of family counseling. These are Perceptions of quality time in the family, Adolescent children and mid-lifing parents, Sons having same sex relationship: Restoring relationship with the father, and Taking care of the aging parent.
On the other hand, the participants can look forward in adding extra skills and improving their counseling knowledge through the following workshops: Counseling parents with their teenage children, Reality therapy for troubled couples, Sex matters: Handling sexuality in counseling, Dealing with a bully in the family and Developing family mediation skills.
People Helpers Counseling Skills Program
FPCAP developed a module on People Helpers Basic Counseling Skills Program for the Family Life Ministry of the Diocese of Kalookan. From July to September thirty participants from the various parishes of the Diocese took part in the said program. Participants underwent counseling practicum too for the last 2 modules. This allowed them to experience how real counseling takes place and be prepared in community practice. Recently, Bishop of Kalookan Most Reverend Deogracias Yniguez commissioned them to practice as people helpers in their own parishes.
FPCAP 4th National Convention announced
FPCAP announces its 4th National Convention this November 15 to 17, 2012 with the theme Family Counseling: Towards Resiliency, Empowerment and Transformation. Venue of the said event shall be at the University of the East - Manila.
Current researches in the area of family counseling shall be presented during the plenary sessions during the first day. On the other hand, the workshops have been scheduled during the last two days of the convention. Further details of this event shall be posted in the near future.
Learning is fun this summer
The Learning Hub Series presents the workshop Shielding in Counseling this April 21, 2012. Mr. Renato P. Arcilla, registered guidance counselor and family counselor shall run this workshop. Counselors shall be exposed to the process of shielding before, during, and after counseling drawing parameters on how to protect one’s profession from the pitfalls of counseling.
As for the month of May, the Learning Hub shall have the Workplace Counseling Skills workshop with Dr. Alda Perlita S. Polestico as facilitator. This workshop, which will be held on May 5, 2012, is open to HRD practitioners, company managers and counselors who wish to update their counseling skills and competencies in the workplace setting.

Renewal of FPCAP Membership
FPCAP Secretary Gilda L. Baquiran is calling on all members of FPCAP to renew their membership in the Association and pay the annual due of PHP 500. This note reminds us to remain in good standing as an active FPCAP member and be included in the Directory that we are updating. Last year, FPCAP had issued the first batch of IDs to those who renewed their membership. Certificate of Membership may also be requested upon payment of the annual due.
