Basic Counseling Skills Program for Lay Workers
The Diocese of Imus through the Family Life Ministry invited the FPCAP to train lay workers of different parishes for a Basic Counseling Skills Program. This was held for 3 consecutive Saturdays - December 2, 9 and 16, 2017 at the Bishop Felix Perez Pastoral Center, Imus Cathedral, Imus City. Thirty five participants successfully finished the Basic Counseling Skills Program and received their certificates. The Family Life Ministry Core Group is headed by Mr. Ned Atanacio who made things possible for this program.
Team Building and Planning Workshop at Tali Beach
The FPCAP Board bonded for a team building and planning workshop last November 13 to 14, 2017 at the Tali Beach, Nasugbu, Batangas. Mrs. Margot Ripoll and her husband Jun welcomed the Board to their resort home. The Board composed of Maureen Sandejas, Pearl Polestico, Tetchie Viduya, Aileen Bartolome and Alfie Dela Vega including Margot Ripoll enjoyed the said workshop. Joining the Board in the event was Ani Mata-Valtersson and her husband Eric.
Applause for the 1st Learning Hub International Seminar Workshop
Dr. Ric P. Ascano, a visiting professor from the University of North Dakota was the resource speaker for the very first Learning Hub International Seminar Workshop on Gaining an Edge in Disaster Mental Health Response last June 3, 2017. This was held at The Feast - Ortigas, Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City.
The renowned speaker is also the author of Spiritual Adoption: The Path to Spiritual Maturity (2011), a book co-authored by his wife S.L. Ascano. He also has an e-book as a follow-up on this entitled Spiritual Adoption: The Path to Spiritual Maturity Revised and Expanded (2016). He gifted some of the lucky participants with his first book and autographed these.
Psychologists, counselors, pastoral workers and those in the healing ministries attended to hear Dr. Ascano's lecture on secondary post-traumatic stress disorders, techniques of psychosocial interventions for neuroprotection against traumatic flashback experiences and the integration of spirituality and healing in mental health. The activity featured demonstrations by Dr. Ascano on how to apply the techniques in the counseling and pastoral ministry setting.
1st Learning Hub International Seminar Workshop
FPCAP has invited a Minnesota practicing clinical psychologist, Dr. Ric P. Ascano, to give a seminar workshop entitled Gaining an Edge in Disaster Mental Health Response. This will be held on June 3, 2017 (Saturday), 9 AM to 6 PM at The Feast - Ortigas, Robinson's Galleria, Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City. Dr. Ascano has a diplomate from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and another diplomate from the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. He will address the psychological issues affecting disaster responders and the survivors and how to respond effectively to these issues. The said seminar workshop will be limited to 50 participants. Pre-Valentine Learning Hub
The Family and Pastoral Counselling Association of the Philippines recently held The Family: Communicating in Love in a pre-Valentine Learning Hub last February 9, 2017. This was held at the F. Benitez Alumni Center, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. Plenary speakers included Mr. Herald C. Cruz, head of the Parents Cluster at the Center for Family Ministries (CeFam) who talked about Language of Love and the husband and wife tandem of Mr. Rene P. Arcilla and Dr. Finina A. Arcilla with the interesting topic Am I in Love?. In the afternoon, Dr. Alda Perlita S. Polestico facilitated a workshop entitled Gender Differences in Relationships while Mrs. Maureen N. Sandejas' workshop discussed about Boundaries in Love Relationships. Participants came from the sectors of education, social media, practitioners in the helping profession and parish workers.
Learning Hub in February 2017
Love springs from the family. What a best way to celebrate the Month of Love with our forthcoming Learning Hub seminar-workshop entitled The Family: Communicating in Love. This event will be on February 9, 2017, 8 AM to 5 PM, at the Benitez Alumni Center, Magsaysay Avenue, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
